Magnesium L-Threonate Capsules | Support for Concentration & Strong Nerves | Lab-Tested | Only Form with Brain Access | Vegan & Tested | 90 Capsules
Magnesium L-threonate is a small revolution for daily mental vitality. While ordinary magnesium often only reaches the muscles, this special compound of magnesium and threonine uses a unique structure as a ticket to the central nervous system.
The Magtein Advantage
MOLEQLAR exclusively uses patented Magtein. This is the crucial difference, as only this form is clinically studied and officially approved. Magtein was specifically developed to raise magnesium levels directly where mental performance and cognitive endurance are needed.
Support for Psyche and Nerves
Magnesium plays a major role in over 300 processes in the body. In the brain, it helps maintain calm and focus. It contributes to the reduction of exhaustion and ensures that energy metabolism and the nervous system function smoothly. Optimal supply supports natural balance and ensures that psychological resilience is maintained.
Safety and Quality
Trust is based on transparency. Every batch of capsules undergoes strict controls in Germany. Independent laboratories test the product for purity, heavy metals, and pesticides. The addition of high-quality MCT oil from a coconut base keeps the formula stable, purely plant-based, and free from artificial additives.

auteniQ Product Check: Magnesium-L-Threonate (Magtein®)
Here's our comprehensive & honest product check – including all myths, risks, and dosage information.
Based on current research, magnesium-L-threonate is considered an extremely exciting and potentially very valuable supplement for the brain:
- Memory Rejuvenation: In impressive animal studies at the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), older rats fully regained their memory function after receiving magnesium-L-threonate, performing as well as their younger counterparts. Initial small studies in humans (50 to 70 years old) with concentration difficulties also show promising results in treatment with magnesium-L-threonate.
- Protection against Dementia and Cognitive Decline: In Alzheimer's disease, the synapses in the hippocampus are the first to degrade. In a groundbreaking dementia study, patients received magnesium-L-threonate to counteract this synaptic loss and, in some cases, even reverse cognitive decline.
- Sleep-Promoting Effect: Like magnesium in general, it relaxes muscles and the brain by dampening excitatory NMDA receptors and activating calming GABA receptors. Specifically for magnesium-L-threonate, experiments have shown that taking it (about 75 mg elemental magnesium) before bedtime can effectively support sleep.
Biological Function and Special Features Magnesium is a vital mineral involved in hundreds of enzymatic processes in the body. The special feature of magnesium-L-threonate is its unique chemical structure: a magnesium atom is bound to two molecules of so-called L-threonic acid (a natural breakdown product of vitamin C). The decisive advantage of this structure is that it can cross the blood-brain barrier exceptionally well. While other forms of magnesium often primarily travel to the muscles or bones, magnesium-L-threonate leads to the magnesium accumulating highly directly in the brain. There, it stimulates the growth of contact points between nerve cells and demonstrably increases the density of functional synapses, especially in the hippocampus – the brain's control center responsible for learning and episodic memory.
The Dosage Dilemma: Complex vs. Elemental Magnesium Dosage often causes confusion, as one must distinguish between the entire complex and pure, elemental magnesium:
- The threonate molecule is relatively large and heavy. To absorb an effective amount of magnesium, a large amount of the total complex must therefore be consumed.
- In the dementia study, the dose was 144 milligrams of elemental magnesium.
- To reach approximately 140 to 150 mg of elemental magnesium, one must supplement around 2000 to 2100 milligrams of the total magnesium-L-threonate complex.
- Safety: The strict European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has classified the supplementation of magnesium-L-threonate up to an extremely high dose of 2700 mg (of the total complex) per day as safe. With the recommended 140–150 mg of pure magnesium, one remains absolutely within the safe range and also significantly below the general maximum supplementation amount of 250 mg set by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).
- Exception: Pregnant and breastfeeding women should refrain from taking it, as the corresponding safety data are lacking.
The Ideal Combination: Magnesium-L-Threonate plus Magnesium Complex A combination of magnesium-L-threonate and a regular magnesium complex is generally a good way to optimally supply both the brain and muscles. However, it is crucial to pay attention to the correct total dose. The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) recommends a daily maximum of 250 milligrams for magnesium supplements. If one takes the full dose of both preparations (e.g., 150 mg elemental magnesium from L-threonate plus 250 mg from a complex), this limit would be significantly exceeded. Excessive single doses can also lead to unpleasant gastrointestinal complaints. The solution: The dose of the magnesium complex should simply be halved! If you take the full dose of L-threonate and only half the dose of the complex (e.g., 125 mg), you will reach a safe and ideal approx. 275 mg of elemental magnesium per day, which optimally meets official recommendations.
The Optimal Time for Intake
- Morning / During the Day (Magnesium Complex): The body often cannot optimally utilize extremely high amounts of magnesium at once. Therefore, it makes sense to distribute the magnesium dose throughout the day. The (halved) dose of the magnesium complex is best taken in the morning or forenoon to supply the muscles and metabolism throughout the day.
- Evening Before Bedtime (Magnesium-L-Threonate): In scientific experiments, magnesium-L-threonate has proven to be extremely sleep-promoting. Therefore, it should clearly be taken in the evening. The dampening of excitatory receptors gently puts the brain and muscles into a resting state and supports regeneration and synapse formation during the night.
Scientific Conclusion:
Research rates magnesium-L-threonate as a very promising and potentially very valuable supplement for the brain:
- For At-Risk Patients: For people with initial cognitive impairments, persistent memory problems, or an increased risk of Alzheimer's and cognitive decline, supplementation with magnesium-L-threonate is definitely worth very serious consideration.
- For Healthy Adults: Whether prophylactic use is recommended for every healthy person is currently difficult to assess due to a lack of large-scale, long-term human clinical studies. For general prevention in entirely healthy individuals, regular magnesium (e.g., as part of a multivitamin) may also suffice.
